📅 Coverage

• Multiple dates available through December 2027
• Coverage needed due to provider shortage
• 120-day temporary privileges available
• No resident/teaching supervision required

🏥 Practice Details

• 265-bed hospital
• Inpatient Neurosurgery service with Emergency coverage
• Adult patients, 18+
• Support from an on-call neurosurgeon
• Primary neurosurgery team includes Dr. Lars Widdel and Dr. Federico Castro-Moure

🩺 Responsibilities

• Round on and evaluate neurosurgery patients
• Evaluate new neurosurgical consults
• Coordinate patient care with the neurosurgeon on call
• Write daily progress notes, consultation notes, discharge instructions and summaries
• Order and coordinate patient care as appropriate
• Remove and manage surgical/neurological drains
• Communicate changes in neurological status or care plans to the neurosurgeon
• Coordinate with nursing, case management, social work and other providers
• Communicate treatment plans and updates with patients and families

🔹 Procedures

• Dressing and drain changes/removal
• Suture removal
• Wound debridement and closure
• Laceration repair
• Cervical spine clearance
• Manipulation/removal of external ventricular, lumbar and subdural drains
• Removal of intracranial pressure monitors
• Ordering spinal braces
