Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced PCU Registered Nurse for a newly opened High-Level PCU. The unit operates as a flexible care environment where patients may require PCU, telemetry, or critical-care level support. ICU RNs with strong PCU experience may also be considered.

The RN will care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and may float between PCU, Critical Care, and Med-Surg/Telemetry based on census and facility needs.

Patient Population & Clinical Focus

Common patient populations include:

• A-fib with RVR
• TAVR and post-PCI patients
• DKA
• COPD/Asthma exacerbations
• Stable ventilated patients
• High-FiO2/HF management
• Renal failure
• Complex cardiac and neurological patients

Key Clinical Skills

• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• IV therapy, central/PICC lines, arterial lines, and blood products
• Ventilator, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care
• Titration of cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips
• Neurological care including CVA, aneurysm repair, craniotomy, EVD, intracranial bleeds, lumbar drains, and post-TPA care
• Cardiac procedures including TAVR, post-PCI care, cardiac angiograms, sheath removal, and TR bands
• Renal failure and pre/post-hemodialysis care

Requirements

• 2+ years of PCU/ICU experience – Required
• Prior travel RN experience – Required
• Cerner experience – Required
• BLS and ACLS – Required
• Candidates without TCAR/TNCC must be willing to obtain the certification within 30 days of starting
• Trauma Level II experience – Preferred
• Teaching hospital experience – Preferred

Additional Information

• May float to Critical Care (1:2–3 patients) or Med-Surg/Telemetry (1:5–6 patients) when census is low.
• The universal-suite model allows rooms to function as Telemetry, PCU, or Critical Care beds based on patient needs.
