Job Title: Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care Unit / Progressive Care (IMC/PCU/Stepdown RN)

Location: Centra Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg, Virginia (1901 Tate Springs Rd)

Compensation & Schedule Details
- Hours & Shift: Night shift (12-hour shifts; assignments end on Saturdays). Orientation dates available: October 5 or October 19, 2026. Target start date: October 19, 2026.
- Contract Length & Holiday Terms: Options for up to 20-week-long assignments available to cover the holiday season. Travelers must work at least one major holiday (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and/or New Year's Day).
- Scheduling & RTO: Block scheduling can no longer be accommodated (though weekend-only requests will be considered). Unit attempts to schedule 2 out of 3 weekends per month based on operational needs. Limited Requested Time Off (RTO) accepted.
- Low Census Terms: Client can cancel up to 36 hours per assignment due to census fluctuations.
Key Facility Policies & Unit Environment
- Teaching Hospital Culture: Centra is a teaching hospital where travelers will regularly work alongside and encounter students and new hires. All team members are expected to contribute a supportive environment.
- Charge Responsibility: Charge nurse responsibilities may be required (charge experience preferred), for which the RN receives appropriate training and pay differential.
- Charting: Cerner preferred.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Prior travel nursing experience is strictly required for all Centra positions. Patient population includes a mix of med-surg, telemetry, cardiac IMCU acuity, neurology, and CVA patients.
- Licensure: Active Virginia (VA) RN license or multi-state compact RN license required upon start.

Cons
Lack benefits and perks other companies offer. Was incorrectly paid more than once. The assignment was the worst I’ve experienced from management down to housekeeping. They nitpick travelers on every level and give them double the respiratory therapist to patient ratio with every assignment spread over multiple floors and areas on every side of the facility. Staff makes no attempt at teamwork. Bottom line: Malone is ok🥴 but has MUCH room to improve. Elizabethtown, KY is awful and puts their patients and your license at risk every shift. Don’t do it!
