General Information

Tell us about the unit(s):

·       Number of Beds – 26 bed, Level 3 NICU

·       Number of Staff – 48

·       Shift for the Traveler --- One AM and one PM (7-7 shifts)

·       Type of staff:

o   Day Shift – 1 charge, 6-7 RNs, 1 PCT

o   Night Shift – 1 charge, 6-7 RNs, ½ PCT

·       Patient Ratios – 1:1 to 1:3 based on acuity

·       Type of equipment – Oscillator, Drager, NAVA, BCPAP, HHNC, Therapeutic Hypothermia, Surgery

·       EMR – Isoprime (Neonatal Notes Manager) for charting and Meditech for lab results and orders

·       On Call Requirements: N/A

·       Weekend Requirements: 4 Weekend shifts per 4-week schedule

Skill Set Most recruited for: 

 

Must have:  candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.

·       Ability to care for central lines and change fluids daily

·       Ability to care for patients with noninvasive ventilation (NIV): BCPAP, NAVA

·       Ability to care for infants post-surgery with ostomies and Broviac catheters

Preferred or nice to have:  candidates with these skills will be considered first.

·       Invasive ventilation

·        

List typical procedures performed on unit(s):  

·       Surgery (GI) at bedside, if needed

·       Central line placement (assist)

·       Chest tube insertion 

Best personality Fit:

·       Ability to communicate well with parents, willing to help team

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

·       NRP, STABLE

Pros

Management is willing to work with RTO pretty easily. GE machines are easy to use and proximity of ER with CT is set up nicely.

Cons

Communication with management is sometimes awful. Especially with contract extensions. HR also did not pay me for a day due to a missed punch. Instead of contacting me about issues, they just didnt pay me and it took two months to resolve that missing pay.
