Cardiac Med-Surg/Telemetry RN – Day Shift

Start: ASAP
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
Weekends: Every other weekend
Call: None
Ratio: Typically 1:5; occasionally 1:6
Floating: Required as needed
Scrubs: Ceil blue
Openings: One
Temp-to-Perm: Possible

Required Qualifications

• Active state RN license or compact license
• AHA BLS
• AHA ACLS
• One year of related nursing experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Cardiac monitoring and medication-drip experience

Patient Population

• Myocardial infarction
• Congestive heart failure
• Cardiac arrhythmias
• Peripheral vascular disease
• Medical-Surgical overflow

Unit Details

The department manages several cardiac medication drips. Nurses do not titrate these drips but must be comfortable monitoring them, recognizing complications and responding appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
• Administer medications and prescribed treatments
• Monitor treatment effectiveness and adverse reactions
• Manage cardiac patients and non-titrated drips
• Document assessments, symptoms, medications and interventions
• Educate patients, families and caregivers
• Delegate appropriate tasks to other members of the care team
• Float to other units when needed

Additional Information

• Overtime is not billable until after 48 hours
• New hires complete organizational and Med-Surg competency validation
• Bedside orientation is provided by a designated preceptor
