Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse to provide care for adult and geriatric patients in an acute medicine setting at a Magnet, teaching, Level I Trauma hospital.

The unit primarily cares for medical patients and does not treat surgical patients. The patient population includes diabetes, renal conditions, COPD, abdominal rule-outs, and cancer patients not receiving active chemotherapy.

Key Clinical Skills

• Medical-Surgical and MS/Telemetry nursing
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• IV therapy, IV starts, PICC and central-line management
• Blood product administration
• Heparin and insulin management
• PCA management
• Respiratory care including oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management
• BiPAP/CPAP experience
• Chest tube care
• Wound care and wound vac management
• Phlebotomy and blood draws

Bedside procedures may include thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertion, and simple suturing/debridement.

Requirements

• 2+ years of RN experience preferred
• Candidates with 1+ year may be considered with Level I Trauma and teaching-facility experience
• BLS and ACLS – Required
• Epic experience – Required
• MS/Telemetry experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must pass the Relias EKG exam
• Strong dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required

Assignment Details

• Every other weekend required
