Description
Ultrasound Technologist
Location: IHS Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD 57770
Contract Length: 1 year (option to extend)
Estimated Start Date: Pending Award and Completion of Credentialing Process
Compensation:
- Hourly Rate: $53
- Travel weekly stipends (If applicable): $1,246
- Please keep in mind that payroll is processed on a biweekly basis.
Benefits:
- Health and Welfare: $5.09/hr (Up to 40 hours worked per week)
- PTO: 5 days after 6 months, an additional 5 days at 1 year of service
- Accrued sick days: 1 hour for every 36 hours worked
- 11 Paid Holidays: Following the Government calendar throughout the year
Job Description:
The Ultrasound Technologist will perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations and obtain high-quality images for referring clinicians and radiologists. The role may also support diagnostic radiology duties within the scope of the technologist’s qualifications and facility needs when ultrasound examinations are not available.
Requirements:
- ARDMS eligible or ARDMS registered, as applicable
- At least 1 year of ultrasound experience
- Experience with a wide range of ultrasound studies
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- ARRT Radiology certification or equivalent preferred when radiographic duties are required
- Required immunizations, including PPD and Tdap
- Ability to meet PRSU and IHS onboarding, credentialing, background, and access requirements
Responsibilities:
- Perform abdominal, pelvic, obstetrical, small-parts, and other supported ultrasound studies
- Obtain diagnostic-quality images
- Select appropriate scanning techniques, positioning, views, and equipment settings
- Adjust equipment parameters to obtain sufficient diagnostic information
- Recognize significant anatomical structures and abnormal findings requiring radiologist review
- Provide technical findings to the radiologist without issuing official interpretations
- Support diagnostic radiology duties when needed and within qualifications, including operating fixed and portable radiography equipment and performing radiographic examinations
