Description
Title: Licensed Practical Nurse
Location: Macon Georgia 31210
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 12hr Day Shift - 36
Shift Information: 0700-1900
Clinical Interviewing- Yes – manager to give final approval
On Call, Call Back Requirements: No call
Weekend Rotation: 6 weekend shifts on a 6 week schedule- (6 out of 12 shifts )
Holiday Requirements: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after + 12/24 or 12/25 + 12/31 or 1/1)
Floating Requirements: Between Unit 1 and Unit 2

- 5-6 miles from the main hospital
- Beds: 58
Unit Information:
- Beds: 33 beds
- Census: 25-33
Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years of Inpatient Rehab or MedSurg experience; need to at least have knowledge of inpatient rehab. Will accept RN or LPN for RN posting
- Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Med Surg, Ortho, Trauma- referral of acute patients from hospitals, LTAC, LTC, home. Most nurses who will adapt to Unit 1 are nurses who have worked in a med-surg, ortho, post op units and other rehabilitation facilities
- Post op ortho (amputations, external fixators, joint replacements), post-CABG, traumas (MVAs, multiple traumas, GSW, falls), general debilitation, wounds with wound vac therapy, long term IV antibiotics. Will seldomly see patients need hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
Patient Ratios:
- RN/LPN: 1:5-7
- CNA: 1-3 CNAs per shift
Required License, National Certification, Certs:
- Active RN License (GA)
- BLS, NIHSS
Skills required:
- Experience with above patient types, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, peripheral IV starts/maintenance, ostomy care, IV antibiotics,
- No drips
Support Available:
- CNA – can assist with VS, Glucose Checks, baths, feeding, ambulating patients, assisting turning patients, hourly rounding, transporting patients as needed (Hospital has designated Transport Team)
- Receptionist/HUC: Unit secretary on unit
- Charge RN
- Phlebotomy and Nurse draw
- RT 24/7
- Hospitalist during the day, on call at night
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Pyxis
- Monitors: Phillips
Unit specific equipment:
- VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips
- Portable vital signs monitors (Dynamapp)
- Bladder scanners, IV pump, portable oxygen system
- Suction machine
Floating: If yes, where: Between Unit 1 and Unit 2
Orientation (facility and unit):
- 1 day orientation with work on educational modules
- 2 days departmental
Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 (on a 6-week schedule)
- On call: No
- Holiday Expectations: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after + 12/24 or 12/25 + 12/31 or 1/1)
- Approval of RTO: to go through manager
- Shift times: 0700-1900, 1900-0700
- Schedule cycle: 6-week schedule
