Job Description

Facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to provide surgical first-assist support in the Operating Room. The RNFA will first-assist only and must have strong robotic and surgical first-assist experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical first-assist support in the OR
• Assist surgeons with a variety of surgical procedures
• Perform surgical first-assist techniques including:
  • Suturing wound layers, including muscle and fascia
  • Clamping and cauterizing vessels and tissues
  • Tying and ligating vessels
  • Direct digital pressure and tissue manipulation
  • Cutting tissue as directed
  • Suctioning, irrigation, and sponging
  • Inserting drainage tubes
  • Applying tourniquets as ordered
  • Manipulating surgical materials
  • Assisting with drainage systems
  • Wound dressing and application of occlusive materials
• Perform sponge and surgical item counts with the circulating nurse
• Maintain aseptic technique and appropriate infection-control practices
• Assist with robotic surgical procedures
• Work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, and the perioperative team
• Follow appropriate safety protocols, including PPE and laser safety when applicable

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience
• RNFA / First Assist experience required
• Robotic surgery experience required
• Experience with Da Vinci robotic systems required
• BLS required
• Experience in an acute hospital OR
• Strong surgical first-assist skills
