Location: New Haven, CT
Duration: 13 Weeks
Start Date: 10/16/2026
Shift: Night 3x12-Hour, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Hours: 36 Hours/Week

 

Job Description

Facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery to provide comprehensive care to laboring patients, postpartum patients, and newborns in a high-volume Level I Trauma Center.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum
  • Assist with vaginal and high-risk deliveries
  • Circulate for C-sections and assist with surgical procedures
  • Recover post-C-section patients
  • Perform fetal monitoring and recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Manage external and internal fetal monitoring
  • Place and calibrate IUPC when required
  • Administer and manage Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Terbutaline, Prostaglandins, and other medications
  • Manage epidurals, pain medications, IV therapy, and infusions
  • Recognize and respond to postpartum hemorrhage, hemorrhage/shock, and other emergencies
  • Provide antepartum care and assessments
  • Perform NSTs and other antepartum procedures
  • Provide postpartum and couplet care
  • Care for patients with cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries, multiple births, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
  • Provide breastfeeding and lactation support
  • Perform fundus, lochia, perineal, wound, and bladder assessments
  • Care for newborns immediately following delivery
  • Perform APGAR scoring and newborn assessments
  • Provide neonatal resuscitation and thermoregulation
  • Assist with infant identification and security banding
  • Collect cord samples when required
  • Maintain and manage IVs and central lines
  • Provide patient and family education and support

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience
  • BLS required
  • NRP required
  • Experience with labor and delivery management
  • Experience with fetal monitoring
  • Experience assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries
  • Experience with C-sections
  • Experience with postpartum and newborn care
  • Experience with neonatal resuscitation
  • Ability to care for patients at a 1:1–2 ratio
  • Epic experience preferred
  • Previous travel experience not required
  • First-time travelers accepted
