Position Details
- Trauma APP supporting the Trauma Service
- Responsible for monitoring, managing, and discharging trauma patients
- Support one trauma surgeon on call
- Average trauma service census: 20–25 ICU patients per provider per day
- Few to zero pediatric patients
- One additional Trauma NP/PA works the day shift, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
- 2 Trauma APPs are currently needed
- Surgical assisting is not part of this role
Required Experience
- Trauma and/or Critical Care experience
- Must be actively working at a TJC-accredited hospital
- Current competence with required trauma procedures
Required Certifications / Licensure
- NCCPA or AACN certification
- Active California license
- NPs: California NP furnishing number
- PAs: California Controlled Substance Education Course (CSEC)
- California DEA
- ACLS
- ATLS
- BLS
Required Procedures
- Local anesthesia
- Laceration repair
- Dressing changes
- Drain and suture removal
- Wound debridement and closure
- Basic management of non-displaced fractures
- Foreign body removal
- Hemostasis and packing
- Incision and drainage
- Cervical spine clearance
- Chest tube removal/insertion
- Burn management
- Arterial line insertion
- Fracture reduction
- Simple dislocation reduction
- Central line insertion
