Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week

Shift: Day Shift, 7:00 AM–6:30 PM, 4x10s
Weekend: Required as needed
Holiday: Required – 1 summer and 1 winter holiday
On-Call: Required, 7 shifts minimum, 10 maximum
 

Job Summary

The Cardiovascular Technologist will assist physicians with invasive cardiac, peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including temporary and permanent pacemaker placement. The technologist will also assist with circulatory support devices such as IABP and Impella.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize equipment and sterile trays for procedures.
• Assist with patient positioning, preparation, and monitoring.
• Calibrate and test transducers and hemodynamic monitoring equipment.
• Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Operate power injectors and sterile support equipment.
• Maneuver table controls as requested.
• Obtain, calculate, and analyze hemodynamic data, including cardiac output and oximetry.
• Maintain digital cine technology and patient image/hemodynamic records.
• Assist with vascular access, sheath removal, and hemostatic closure devices.
• Apply radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis.
• Recognize and interpret cardiac arrhythmias.
• Assist with inventory control, equipment preparation, maintenance, and calibration.
• Follow CVIS requirements and radiation safety standards.
• Participate in Cath Lab on-call responsibilities.
• Maintain sterile operative techniques and safe equipment operation.
• Provide patient care appropriate to age, culture, language, and individual needs.
• Lift up to 40 lbs., push/pull up to 100 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 4 hours/day.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory or invasive procedure area in an acute-care hospital.
• Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Cath experience.
• Experience with Impella and balloon pump required.
• Permanent pacemaker placement experience preferred.
• Familiarity with hemodynamic monitoring and sterile techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills.

Preferred Experience

• Mac Lab experience.
• EPIC experience.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Technologist, Radiologic Technologist, or Applied Science program.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a health science field preferred.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• BLS/AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP.
• ACLS within 3 months of employment.
• RCIS certification through CCI within 1 year of hire or Radiologic Technologist License.
• BLS and Radiology certification required.
