We are seeking an experienced Acute Care RN to provide nursing care on a combination Neuro Stepdown and Telemetry unit. The RN will care for patients requiring increased monitoring and clinical assessment, including neurological and cardiac monitoring.

The ideal candidate will have recent Stepdown or Telemetry experience and be comfortable managing a patient assignment of approximately 1:3–5, depending on patient acuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on a Neuro Stepdown/Telemetry unit.
• Perform frequent neurological assessments and monitor for changes in patient condition.
• Perform and document NIHSS assessments as required.
• Monitor telemetry and recognize/report significant cardiac rhythm changes.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and other treatments as ordered.
• Monitor vital signs, neurological status, cardiac status, and overall patient condition.
• Recognize signs of neurological deterioration and promptly communicate changes to the appropriate provider.
• Maintain seizure, fall, aspiration, and other appropriate patient-safety precautions.
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment, medications, safety, and recovery.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record.
• Escalate care appropriately when a patient's condition changes.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
• Recent experience in Stepdown or Telemetry required.
• Acute Care RN experience required.
• Experience caring for patients in a combined Stepdown/Telemetry environment preferred.
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred.
• Active California RN License.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.
• NIHSS certification.

Schedule & Assignment Expectations

• Patient ratio: approximately 1:3–5, based on acuity.
• Every other weekend requirement.
• On-call as needed.
• Travelers must be flexible with their availability.
• Holiday RTO will not be approved.
• 2-day RTO requests will not be approved.
