• Position Overview

• We are seeking a compassionate and highly organized Inpatient Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (RN) to provide care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from complex medical, neurological, and traumatic conditions.
• This 35-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit provides comprehensive nursing care to patients working toward improved function and independence following stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, brain injury, critical illness, and neurological disorders.
• The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, organization, compassion, and clinical problem-solving skills.

• Patient Population

• Common diagnoses and patient populations include:
• Stroke
• Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
• Amputees
• Brain Injury (BI)
• Recovery following critical illness
• Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
• Parkinson's disease
• Other neurological diseases
• Adult and geriatric rehabilitation patients

• Staffing & Ratios

• RN-to-Patient Ratios:
• Days: 1:5
• Nights: 1:6
• Charge Nurse: Available on the unit.

Medication & Clinical Responsibilities

RNs are not required to titrate drips on this unit.

Common therapies/medications include:

• Antibiotics
• Anticoagulation
• Antiplatelet therapy

The RN will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, care coordination, patient education, and monitoring patients throughout the rehabilitation process.

Required Certification

• BLS – Required

Schedule

Day Shift: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
Night Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM

• 12-hour shifts
• Cyclic self-scheduling
• Minimum every 3rd weekend
• Minimum 2 holidays
• No call or standby requirement

Floating Requirements

Travelers may be required to float to Medical-Surgical units based on operational needs.

Candidates should be comfortable providing care within their scope and competency when floating.

Orientation

Orientation includes:

• Classroom/system orientation
• 2 × 12-hour unit-specific orientation shifts

The orientation process is designed to familiarize the traveler with facility policies, workflows, patient population, and unit expectations.

Important Assignment Policies

50-Mile Radius Rule

• Candidates must meet the facility's 50-mile radius requirement.
• A driver's license is required at submission and will be used to determine radius eligibility.
• Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN employees with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity.

RTO Policy

• RTO must be submitted upfront.
• Maximum 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract.
• Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submission.

Fingernail Policy

• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient-care departments.
• Candidates must comply with the facility's fingernail policy.
• Refusal to remove prohibited artificial nails may result in contract termination.

Orientation Exam Requirement

During orientation, RNs must complete a pass/fail exam on Friday covering skills learned during orientation.

• Exam is open book
• Necessary resources are provided
• 90% minimum score required
• Failure to achieve the required 90% score may result in contract termination
