Respiratory Therapist (RT)
Position Details:
- Location: Cheyenne, WY 82001
- Department: Respiratory Therapy
- Care Setting: Acute Care – Inpatient
- Contract Length: 13 Weeks
- Start Date: 10/05/2026
- Positions Available: 1
- Shift:12-Hour Days
- Shift Time: 5:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week
- Experience Required: 2+ Years
- Trauma Level: Level II
- Charting: Epic
Required Qualifications & Certifications:
- Wyoming RT License
- CRT or RRT via NBRC
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program
- 2+ years of Respiratory Therapy experience
- Permanent address must be at least 25 miles from the facility
- PALS preferred/bonus
Patient Population:
- Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal patients
- ICU: 15 beds
- Pediatric floor with High-Flow Nasal Cannula
- Neonates may remain on CPAP; high-acuity neonates are stabilized and transported when necessary
- Ventilator assignment typically ranges from 1:1 to 1:6
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide respiratory care across inpatient units, ICU, ER, and pediatric areas
- Perform respiratory treatments including inhalers and other prescribed therapies
- Manage and monitor patients requiring ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
- Draw ABGs using EPOC after completing competency
- Perform EKGs when needed
- Assist with intubations
- Assist with bronchoscopy procedures
- Use bronch adapters appropriately during procedures
- Assist with patient transports when required
- Monitor and report critical laboratory results promptly
- Follow strict hand hygiene and infection-control practices
- Provide respiratory support for high-risk deliveries as part of the charge RT role
Equipment:
- Puritan Bennett 980 ventilators
- Dräger ventilators for nursery
- Philips CPAP/BiPAP
- DreamStation and V30 systems
- EV300 and V60 ventilators
- Optiflow high-flow oxygen
- Parapac transport ventilator
- EPOC blood gas system
Schedule & Staffing
- Day Shift: 5:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- Block scheduling is generally accommodated when possible
- Travelers can work with management on scheduling preferences
- Approximately 4–5 RTs on days and 3–4 RTs on nights
- Manager available Monday–Friday
- Charge/Lead RT available every shift
- May move between floors based on patient volume and staffing
- ER/ICU assignments generally remain within those areas for the day
Weekend & Call
- Every other weekend required
- No regular call/standby requirement
- Holidays are not routinely required, but may be offered based on staffing needs
- RTs may assist throughout the hospital as needed
Orientation
- 2 department-specific orientation shifts
Submission Requirements
- All paperwork due Wednesday by 12:00 PM MST the week before start
- Permanent residence must be 25+ miles from the facility
Cancellation Policy
- Client may cancel up to 2 shifts during the 13-week assignment.
