Unit Notes

Travelers living within a 60-mile radius of the facility cannot be accepted. Travelers living 60 to 80 miles away qualify for the local travel rate (client rate reduced by $8.00).

Must haves:

• 2 years of previous Med Surg experience
• Level 1 trauma experience
• Epic experience
• BLS (AHA)
• Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment

General job duties / procedures: General medical/surgical patients. This 15-bed unit takes patients who are ready to be discharged from the ER but have not yet been assigned to a specific unit. Perform initial admissions and care for patients until they move to their new unit.

Equipment: Epic, Zebra phones for communication, Omnicell for medications, Alaris IV pumps

Required skills and minimum experience: 2+ years of medical/surgical experience, Level I Trauma Center experience, Epic experience

Licensures and certifications: BLS (must be AHA)

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730), every other weekend and every other holiday. No call.

Floating: Yes, to other medical/surgical units as needed.

Bed size: 15 beds, all private rooms

Nurse-to-patient ratio: 5:1 days, 6:1 nights

Dress code: Navy blue scrubs

Training and orientation: New medical/surgical unit, fast-paced.
