Job Title: Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)
Facility Type/Setting: Acute Behavioral Health Facility
Shift: Nights — 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
Schedule: Weekend Only — Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Weekly Hours: 36 hours/week
 

Position Overview

Psychiatric Registered Nurses (RNs) provide care to patients with mental illness or disabilities. These nurses are registered nurses with additional skills and experience in working with patients who may have challenging or difficult behaviors.

Psychiatric RNs may work in hospitals and clinics and provide direct patient care. They also assist physicians in caring for patients experiencing a crisis and evaluate patients' progress with their treatment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to individuals with mental illness or disabilities.
• Care for patients in crisis and assist doctors with their treatment.
• Evaluate patients' progress with treatment.
• Work with patients who may present difficult or challenging behaviors.
• Provide nursing care in an acute behavioral health environment.
• Must float to all units as required.

Patient Population

• Acute Behavioral Health patients.
• Acute Adolescent patients.

Staffing / Patient Ratio

• Patient ratio: 1:6–8
• Must be willing to float to all units.
