Compensation & Schedule Details

• Hours & Shift: Variable shifts (8, 10, or 12-hour shifts; varied start times including days, evenings, and nights, such as 0700–1730, 0700–1500, 0900–1700, 1100–1900, 1500–2300, and 1100–2300). Target start date: September 16, 2026. Contract length: 13 weeks. Block scheduling is allowed if it meets unit needs (no self-scheduling).
• Call Requirements:
  • Weeknight call: One weeknight on-call shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) per week (rotation varies), plus 1 weekday call spanning Monday–Thursday.
  • Weekend call: One weekend 24-hour on-call shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) per month.
  • Holiday call: Rotation as needed.
  • Call Response Time: 30 minutes (if living more than 30 minutes away while on call, staff must stay on site).
• System Submission Rules: Can only submit to 1 position at a time across the entire WVU system. Maximum of 2 candidates submitted per opening. All background hits must be disclosed at submission.
• Radius & Separation Rules: Strict 50-mile radius rule (driver's license address must be outside 50 miles). Former permanent employees must have been gone for 2 years; former travelers who worked a full year must also be gone for 2 years.

Key Facility Policies & Unit Scope

• Unit Overview (Cost Center 72): Features 9 OR suites, 1 procedure room, and 1 hybrid suite, averaging 35–45 cases per day. Open 24/7 covering general, ENT, eyes, ortho, robotics (DaVinci and Rosa), trauma, vascular, and peds. Note: The OR staff is almost entirely travelers, and techs are responsible for room turnover.
• Shift-Specific Experience Requirements: Monday–Friday 0700–1530 shifts will consider candidates with minimal experience in one service line if willing to learn. Evening/night shifts (11:00 AM – 11:00 PM, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, and overnight) require full multi-specialty experience. Overnight RNs work solo with 2 techs.
• Floating Requirements: Floating to outpatient surgery as needed.
• Dress Code: Scrubs are provided for RNs and OR techs (staff change on-site).

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of OR experience required, along with 2–3 previous travel assignments. Orthopedic experience and Epic EMR proficiency are required. Must have experience passing the arms in and out for robotic procedures. Scrubbing experience is a strong plus.
• Licensure: Active West Virginia (WV) RN license or multi-state compact license required at submittal.
• Certifications: AHA BLS and ACLS required at submittal (PALS preferred).
