Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Labor & Delivery to provide comprehensive nursing care to women and newborns in a hospital setting.

The hospital delivers approximately 850–900 infants annually, averaging about 75 deliveries per month. The department includes 5 Labor & Delivery beds and 10 postpartum beds, providing comprehensive care for women and babies through recovery.

The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients' clinical conditions and recognize, identify, and respond to serious or rapidly changing situations.
• Prioritize patient needs and take appropriate immediate action, including notifying physicians and initiating preplanned interventions.
• Provide nursing care across the lifespan, with a strong focus on obstetrical, postpartum, neonatal, medical, and surgical patients.
• Develop individualized plans of care based on patient and family interviews, medical records, clinical assessments, and identified needs.
• Incorporate patients' cultural, religious, physical, and psychosocial needs into individualized care plans.
• Provide discharge planning and patient/family education.
• Initiate appropriate emergency interventions when a physician is not immediately available, including resuscitative measures when required.
• Operate and monitor emergency and specialized equipment, including:
  • Infusion pumps
  • Pulse oximeters
  • Ventilators
  • Cardiac monitors
  • Other specialized emergency equipment
• Administer medications, IV therapy, respiratory therapy, and other prescribed treatments.
• Monitor patient responses to medications and therapeutic interventions.
• Educate patients and families regarding preventative, curative, and rehabilitative care.
• Document patient assessments, nursing interventions, treatments, and outcomes accurately and timely.
• Evaluate patient progress and update plans of care as needed.
• Coordinate patient care with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare disciplines.
• Delegate and oversee appropriate patient care activities performed by LPNs and unlicensed personnel.
• Provide clinical guidance and direction to other RNs, LPNs, and support staff.
• Assist with maintaining adequate supplies, equipment, and a safe patient-care environment.
• Maintain current nursing knowledge and clinical competency.
• Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and positive interpersonal skills.
• Follow professional, ethical, legal, and organizational standards of nursing practice.

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma or a valid Compact RN License.
• Minimum 2 years of professional nursing experience.
• Strong Labor & Delivery / Obstetrics nursing experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Required Certifications

• BLS – Basic Life Support
• ACLS – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
• NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program
• STABLE
