The Pre/Post Procedure RN provides nursing care to patients before and after surgical, cardiac, interventional, diagnostic, and infusion procedures. The RN will work across a variety of procedural areas and must be comfortable caring for patients with complex medical and cardiac needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure nursing care and monitoring.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments before and after procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery, cardiac catheterization, IR, endoscopy, radiology procedures, and infusions.
• Monitor vital signs, cardiac status, pain, sedation/recovery status, and potential post-procedure complications.
• Provide specialized care to cardiac patients before and after cardiac catheterization and other cardiac procedures.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and promptly communicate concerns to physicians and the appropriate clinical team.
• Administer medications and IV therapies according to physician orders and facility protocols.
• Review patient history, medications, allergies, laboratory results, and procedure-related information.
• Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Assist with safe patient preparation, recovery, transfers, and discharge.
• Collaborate with physicians, procedural teams, anesthesia, radiology, surgery, cath lab, and other interdisciplinary departments.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Follow hospital policies, infection-control standards, and patient-safety protocols.
• Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and emergency situations.

Required Experience

• Acute-care hospital experience required.
• Strong cardiac pre/post experience highly important.
• Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred/required based on manager's preference.
• Experience with IR, Surgery, and Endoscopy is strongly preferred.
• Experience caring for patients before and after invasive procedures.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Active California RN License
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• PALS
