Description
Travel Respiratory Therapist - Bossier City, LA
Facility: Center for Women's Health
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour days, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM
Schedule: Alternating 36/48-hour weeks per detailed facility description
Weekends: Every other weekend
Call: 2 call shifts per month
Holidays: As assigned unless approved time off is included in the contract
About the Assignment
Provide respiratory care for adult, pediatric and neonatal patients across the Willis-Knighton system. Candidates must be comfortable supporting Level III NICU/PICU patients and attending high-risk deliveries, including neonatal intubation when necessary.
Floating among all four campuses is required. Facilities are approximately 20-25 minutes apart by car, and a valid driver's license is required.

Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
- At least one completed 13-week travel assignment; first-time travelers are not accepted
- Current Louisiana respiratory therapy license
- NBRC credential; RRT strongly preferred, CRT accepted
- Current BLS and NRP certifications
- Valid driver's license
- Experience supporting high-risk deliveries, neonatal patients and NICU/PICU care
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS
- PALS
- Registered Respiratory Therapist credential
Required Clinical Skills
- Adult, pediatric and neonatal respiratory care
- Airway and ventilator management
- Neonatal intubation when necessary
- Arterial blood gas puncture and analysis
- Noninvasive ventilation
- Code Blue and rapid response support
- Inhaled medication administration, including nitric oxide
Patient Population
Care may include patients with COPD, CHF, pneumonia, influenza, COVID, ARDS, lung cancer, stroke, ALS, Guillain-Barré syndrome, RSV and cystic fibrosis. Additional populations include postoperative cardiac, transplant and head/neck surgery patients, patients with tracheostomies, minor trauma patients and high-risk newborns.

- NICU oscillator and Neopuff for deliveries
Scheduling and Call Details
- Detailed facility notes specify a 36/48-hour rotation.
- Management is open to discussing 7-on/7-off, 3/2 or 5/2 rotating schedules.
- Overtime may be available with facility approval.
- Requested time off requires manager approval.
- Two call shifts per month are required, with a listed 2-hour minimum.
- Transport assignments may involve adults and may be by ground or air.
- Therapists with less transport experience may cover the unit while a more experienced therapist accompanies the transport.
- Transport during a scheduled shift does not receive additional transport compensation.
- Additional call is available voluntarily.
Orientation and Department Support
Orientation includes 2 days of system onboarding, followed by orientation to all four facilities within a 2-day period, with additional needs based on experience and comfort level. Training includes transport equipment, documentation and procedures.
Support includes respiratory care leadership, shift supervisors, team leads, RT educators, department coordinators and dedicated EMR support. Travelers will not work specifically with ECMO.
