🩺 Position Overview

The Medical-Surgical RN will provide direct patient care while supporting patients recovering from illness, injury, surgery, and other medical conditions.

The RN will use clinical judgment and critical-thinking skills throughout the nursing process while collaborating with physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in patient condition.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapy according to provider orders.
• Monitor vital signs, symptoms, and patient progress.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and communicate concerns promptly.
• Provide post-operative, acute-care, and chronic-condition management.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.
• Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and self-care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Epic EMR.
• Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and regulatory standards.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and changing patient conditions.
• Delegate and oversee appropriate tasks assigned to nursing assistants, technicians, and unit clerks.
• Maintain continuity of care through clear documentation and communication between shifts.
• Promote patient independence through education and individualized care goals.
• Provide compassionate emotional and psychological support to patients and families.
• Participate in staff meetings, in-service education, orientation, and mentoring activities.
• Serve as a professional resource and role model for peers and other healthcare providers.

🧑‍⚕️ Requirements

Required

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Idaho or an approved Compact State
• BLS/BCLS
• ACLS
• PALS required within one year of hire
• Graduate of an approved nursing program
• Ability to work the required night schedule
• Ability to work weekends and participate in required scheduling needs

Preferred

• Previous Medical-Surgical experience
• BSN
• Previous travel or contract nursing experience
• Experience with Epic
