Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Telemetry Registered Nurses (RNs) for a long-term contract opportunity on a 32-bed Cardiac Progressive Care/Telemetry unit specializing in patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF).

The ideal candidate will have strong PCU/Telemetry experience and be proficient in caring for higher-acuity cardiac patients, including heparin drips, blood products, EKG interpretation, and rhythm changes.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to PCU/Telemetry patients.
• Care for patients with CHF and other complex cardiac conditions.
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize rhythm changes.
• Interpret EKGs and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
• Safely manage and monitor heparin infusions.
• Administer blood products according to established protocols.
• Start, maintain, and manage IV access.
• Perform phlebotomy/blood draws as required.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and maintain accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Prioritize care based on patient acuity and clinical needs.
• Float to other units as required and within scope of practice.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and patient-centered environment.

Unit Details

• 32-bed Cardiac PCU/Telemetry unit
• Specialized focus on CHF and cardiac patients
• Day-shift ratio: approximately 1:4
• Night-shift ratio: approximately 1:5
• Higher-acuity progressive care environment
• Floating is required

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/Telemetry RN experience.
• Strong cardiac/progressive-care nursing experience.
• Experience managing heparin drips.
• Experience administering blood products.
• Strong EKG interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition skills.
• Recent Epic experience within the last 12 months; must be clearly listed on the resume.
• Recent phlebotomy experience within the last 12 months; must be clearly listed on the resume.
• Proven ability to start and maintain IVs.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program through ACEN or CCNE.
• Ability and willingness to float.
• Strong clinical judgment, assessment, and critical-thinking skills.

Assignment Requirements

• Interview required.
• Candidates must provide available interview dates and times at submission.
• RTO must be submitted with the initial application.
• Maximum 7 days of RTO permitted.
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment.
• Block scheduling requests are not accepted.
• Solid black scrubs required.
• Must be willing to float within scope of practice.

• Pharmacology assessment
• License and certification verification
• Education verification
• Drug screening and background checks
• Health screening and immunization requirements
• Facility onboarding and compliance documentation
