Chronic Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) 

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Chronic Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) with prior Charge Nurse experience to join a dialysis care team on an 8-week assignment. The ideal candidate will have strong chronic dialysis experience, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to independently manage patients receiving hemodialysis while maintaining a high standard of patient safety and care.

Prior DCI experience is preferred but not required, and previous travel nursing experience is also preferred. Candidates should be adaptable, dependable, and comfortable working in a busy dialysis clinic environment.

Position Details

• Position: Chronic Dialysis RN / Charge RN
• Contract Length: 8 weeks
• Start Date: Approximately 2–3 weeks after offer
• Shift: Days / Mids
• Guaranteed Hours: 32 hours per week
• Expected Schedule: 4 days per week
• Clinic Days: Monday–Saturday
• On-Call: None required
• Floating: No floating to other locations or departments required
• Dialysis Machines: Fresenius T

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients receiving chronic hemodialysis.
• Perform patient assessments before, during, and after dialysis treatments.
• Monitor vital signs, treatment response, access sites, and overall patient condition throughout treatment.
• Initiate, monitor, and complete dialysis treatments according to established protocols and physician orders.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and dialysis-related complications.
• Administer medications and treatments within the RN scope of practice.
• Monitor vascular access and identify potential complications.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Provide patient education regarding dialysis treatment, medications, vascular access care, diet, fluid management, and overall disease management.
• Communicate effectively with nephrologists, healthcare providers, dialysis technicians, and other members of the care team.
• Maintain strict infection prevention and patient safety practices.
• Perform additional clinical duties and responsibilities within the RN's scope of practice as requested by the client.
• Support daily clinic operations and patient flow while maintaining quality standards.

Charge RN Responsibilities

Prior Charge Nurse experience is required.

The Charge RN may be responsible for:

• Coordinating patient care and daily clinical workflow.
• Supporting staff and assisting with clinical decision-making.
• Monitoring patient assignments and treatment schedules.
• Escalating patient-care concerns appropriately.
• Supporting adherence to facility policies, dialysis protocols, and safety standards.
• Serving as a clinical resource for the nursing and dialysis team.

Required Qualifications & Certifications

• Active Compact RN License required.
• BLS certification required.
• Prior RN Charge experience – Required.
• Current license verification must be provided at submission.
• Required certifications must be submitted with the candidate's profile.
• Nursys report required for nurses.
• Strong chronic dialysis/hemodialysis experience.
• Ability to perform all duties within the RN scope of practice as required by the client.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior DCI experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Strong experience in chronic dialysis settings
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced dialysis environment

Schedule & Weekend Requirements

• Clinic Schedule: Monday–Saturday
• Shifts: Days/Mids
• Expected Work Schedule: 4 days per week
• Guaranteed Hours: 32 hours
• Saturday Rotation: Required based on client needs.
• An exact every-other-week Saturday rotation may not always be accommodated.
• No scheduled on-call requirement.

Because these are six-day clinics and dialysis units may operate longer shifts on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and shorter shifts on Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday/Sunday, specific scheduling requests may result in a lower guaranteed number of hours than posted.

All shift times are approximate and may be adjusted by the client based on patient census and staffing needs.

Candidates should communicate any scheduling requests or requirements at the time of submission. Please clearly identify whether a scheduling item is a preference/request or an actual requirement.

• Clinicians must be willing to perform duties within their scope of practice as requested by the client.
• Prior DCI experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Due to submission volume, candidates without preferred experience may be redirected depending on client needs.
• No required floating to other locations.
• No required floating to other departments.
• No required on-call responsibility.
• Flexibility is important due to potential changes in shift length and scheduling based on census and staffing requirements.
