Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to join the laboratory team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in gynecological and non-gynecological cytology screening, fine needle aspiration (FNA) processing, and cytology specimen adequacy assessment.

Required Qualifications

• New York State Cytotechnologist License – Required
• Bachelor of Science degree with ASCP Registry and/or graduation from a Certified Cytology School
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience
• Experience screening:
  • Gynecological specimens
  • Non-gynecological specimens
  • Fine Needle Aspirations (FNA)
• ThinPrep Certification – Required
• Familiarity with the Bethesda System for Cytology Reporting

Required Clinical & Laboratory Skills

• GYN/Non-GYN specimen screening – Required
• Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) processing and immediate adequacy assessment – Required
• Cytology preparation work for GYN and non-GYN specimens – Preferred
• Ability to accurately evaluate cytology specimens and identify cellular abnormalities
• Strong knowledge of cytology screening protocols and reporting standards
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to laboratory quality and accuracy

Key Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate gynecological and non-gynecological cytology specimens.
• Process and perform immediate adequacy assessment for FNA specimens.
• Perform cytology preparation and specimen processing according to established laboratory protocols.
• Apply the Bethesda System appropriately when evaluating and classifying cytology findings.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to laboratory quality and safety standards.
• Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate specimen evaluation.

• Parking: Minimum parking cost of $1.25 per hour
• Candidates must meet all applicable New York State licensing and certification requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, technical proficiency, and consistent adherence to laboratory standards are essential for this role.
