Position Details

• Position: CVICU / Cardiovascular ICU RN
• Shift: Day, 3×12 hours
• Hours: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
• Contract: 13 weeks
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Patient Population: Adults
• Patient Ratio: 1:1 to 3:1
• Beds: 11

Experience – REQUIRED

• 2 years CVICU experience – REQUIRED
• 2 years ICU experience – REQUIRED
• Experience in a Teaching Hospital and Level I Trauma facility
• Critical Care Float Pool experience – preferred
• Previous charge experience – preferred
• Community hospital experience – preferred

License

• PA or Compact RN license must be in hand
• Valid license/certification required at submission.

Certifications

This is a high-acuity CVICU, and the candidate should have experience with:

• ECMO

• Central lines
• Continuous IV sedation
• Neuromuscular blockade/paralytics
• Vasoactive/cardiac drips
• Dysrhythmia management
• Ventilated patients
• BiPAP/CPAP
• CRRT/CVVHD
• Massive transfusion protocols
• Epicardial pacing wires
• Post-cardiac surgery care
• CABG
• AVR/MVR
• TAVR
• Valve repair/replacement
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization
• Sheath removal
• Stroke/CVA management
• Emergency medications

Patient Population / Procedures

The unit primarily cares for post-cardiac surgery patients, including:

• CABG
• AVR
• MVR
• Other cardiac surgeries
• Complex cardiovascular/critical-care patients

Important Scheduling Requirements

• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• Floating is required.
• No block scheduling.
• RTO must be provided at the time of submission.
• RTO submitted after submission will not be accepted.

Compliance

• SSN and DOB required for submission.
• Labs within 48 hours of signing.
• PA fingerprints required within 1 week of signing.
• Fingerprint receipt must be provided.
• PA ChildLine/fingerprint results from within 12 months may be accepted; otherwise, candidate must complete them at the earliest available appointment.
• Valid references and certification copies required.
• Managers have 48 hours to review/interview/confirm an auto-offer.

Clinical Exam

⚠️ Pass/Fail exam required.

• Maximum 3 attempts
• Third failed attempt = automatic cancellation
• No clinical remediation available.
