Registered Nurse – Surgical / Post-Op

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide compassionate, high-quality patient care in a Surgical/Post-Op setting. The RN will be responsible for assessing patients, managing post-operative needs, providing symptom management, coordinating care, and collaborating with patients, caregivers, physicians, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Position Details

• Shift: Day Shift
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Time: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Weekend: Every 3rd weekend
• Holiday: 1 Winter Holiday / 1 Winter Holiday Eve
• On-Call: No
• Float: Yes, as needed to other inpatient units
• Required Experience: 2 years
• Preferred Experience: 3 years

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
• Provide safe and compassionate care to surgical and post-operative patients.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately.
• Provide symptom management and address patient-care needs promptly.
• Manage phone triage and patient navigation as required.
• Care for patients with ostomies, NG tubes, and wound vacs.
• Administer medications, treatments, and nursing interventions safely and accurately.
• Monitor vital signs, clinical data, and patient responses to treatment. years of Registered Nurse experience
• Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to physicians and other healthcare team members.
• Educate patients and caregivers regarding medications, treatment plans, post-operative care, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the medical record.
• Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Float to other inpatient units as needed based on staffing and patient-care requirements.
• Adapt quickly to changing patient needs and maintain a strong focus on quality patient care.
• Participate in ongoing education, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience.
• Prior Surgical and/or Radiology experience required.
• Surgical / Post-Op experience required.
• Prior experience with symptom management required.
• Experience with phone triage and patient navigation.
• Experience with ostomy care, NG tubes, and wound vacs.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-care skills.
• Compassionate and accountable approach to patient and caregiver needs.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
• RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.
• Telemetry experience required.
• NIH Stroke certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 years of Registered Nurse experience preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish candidates highly preferred.
