RN – CVICU | Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit within a busy Level I Trauma and major academic medical center.

The ideal candidate will have strong critical care experience and be comfortable caring for complex cardiovascular and surgical patients. Experience with open-heart surgery, transplant, AAA, CRRT, and ECMO is highly preferred.

Unit & Clinical Environment

• Department: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• High-acuity, fast-paced critical care environment
• Busy Level I Trauma Center
• Major academic medical center
• EPIC experience required
• Nurses must be comfortable working with complex and critically ill patients
• Previous experience in a large, high-volume hospital is strongly preferred

Required Experience

Successful candidates for this unit typically have:

• 3+ years of recent ICU/CVICU experience
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience working in a busy, high-acuity hospital
• Strong cardiovascular critical care background
• Experience caring for complex post-operative and critically ill patients

Preferred Clinical Experience

The following experience is strongly preferred:

• Open-heart surgery
• Cardiothoracic surgery
• Heart/lung transplant
• AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm)
• CRRT
• Recent ECMO experience
• Complex cardiovascular critical care

Technology & Documentation

• EPIC experience is required
• Candidates should be comfortable navigating electronic documentation in a high-acuity ICU environment.

Floating Requirement

RN must be open and flexible to floating.

Travelers may be required to float based on hospital needs. Candidates should be comfortable working across appropriate critical-care areas and adapting to different patient populations and workflows.

Schedule

• Every Other Weekend (EOW) required
• No self-scheduling
• Scheduling is based on department and hospital needs
• Candidates must be flexible with scheduling requirements

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced CVICU RN who has worked in a large, busy academic medical center or Level I Trauma facility. Strong cardiovascular critical care knowledge, previous travel experience, and exposure to complex surgical and mechanical-support patients are highly valued.

Candidates should be adaptable, clinically confident, and willing to float as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care.

Parking Information

Daily parking is approximately $15+ per day.

Multiple on-campus and off-campus parking options are available, including monthly passes ranging approximately from $95–$120.
