Job Description – Med/Surg RN

Shift: 12-hour Days, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Contract: 13 weeks
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Call: None

This position is for a Med/Surg RN working in a 128-bed acute-care hospital with a 6:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. The RN will work within the Med/Surg float pool, covering Med/Onc, two surgical units, and two medical units, with floating to any Med/Surg pod as needed.

The patient population includes colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, general and orthopedic surgical patients, as well as medical patients with conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, COPD, kidney and GI disorders.

The position requires current Med/Surg experience and experience in a large hospital setting. First-time travelers are not accepted. The RN will provide total patient care, as there are no PCAs on the unit. There are no titratable drips, and Respiratory Therapy is available for respiratory support. Remote telemetry is used, with occasional strip reading required.

Required:

• Active nursing license required to submit
• AHA BLS
• Current Med/Surg experience
• Large hospital experience
• Previous travel experience

Additional Details:

• BSN not required
• Cerner currently; transitioning to EPIC in November 2026
• 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Navy scrubs required; not provided
• No holiday requirement
• No call/standby
• Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment
• Level II Trauma facility
• Charge nurse is present and takes an assignment
