Job Details

• Profession: RN – GI Lab
• Shift: Day, 5x8 hours | Rotating shifts:
  • 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
  • 6:30 AM–3:00 PM
  • 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
  • 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
• Contract: 13 weeks
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Rooms: 2
• Orientation: 16 hours
• Call: Required, 4–5 days/month, varies by need
• Weekend: 1 weekend shift every other month, varies by need
• Floating: Required to other facilities if needed
• Medication Systems: Pyxis & Omnicell

Requirements

• License: RN license; SC RN license listed in travel compliance
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Experience: Minimum 1 year; manager specifically requires OR or PACU experience
• Travel Experience: Required; no first-time travelers
• EPIC: Minimum 1 year required
• Required Skills: OR/PACU experience, conscious sedation, bronchoscopy, circulating, colonoscopy, EGD, dysrhythmia management, conscious sedation recovery, specimen handling/labeling
• Patient Population: Adults, Geriatrics
• COVID Vaccine: Not required
• Flu Vaccine: Required, no exemptions

Job Description / Duties / Responsibilities

• GI lab nurses must be competent in OR/PACU due to the small facility and must be able to take call.
• Administer and monitor conscious sedation and recover patients from sedation.
• Perform colonoscopy, EGD, bronchoscopy, and related GI procedures.
• Circulate and support inpatient procedures.
• Manage/interpret dysrhythmias.
• Handle and label specimens appropriately.
• Float to other Prisma Health units/campuses as requested based on census and competency.

• Interdisciplinary Support: Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation

Submission / Compliance Requirements

• Traveler Radius: Generally 100+ miles from every Prisma facility; applicable specialty exceptions may apply.
• RTO: Must be included with submission.
• Social Security Number: Required with submission.
• Orientation: Every Monday; annual Prisma compliance requirement.
• Pre-Assignment Testing: Required for all RNs.
• Modules: Up to 16 hours, billable; completed pre-start and annually.
• Module Deadline: Pre-assignment testing/modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login information.
• Floating: Agency staff may be required to float to qualified Prisma units/campuses based on census needs.
