Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist will evaluate and treat pediatric patients, develop individualized plans of care, and provide evidence-based physical therapy interventions based on patient needs and functional goals. The PT will collaborate with patients, families, caregivers, and referring providers while maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
 

Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive patient examinations and screenings to determine appropriate therapy services.
• Evaluate clinical findings and establish physical therapy diagnoses and outcomes of care.
• Develop individualized plans of care incorporating goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge planning.
• Evaluate and treat impairments related to orthopedic and neurologic conditions.
• Perform objective testing including range of motion, strength, and functional performance.
• Safely perform and assist with patient transfers between bed, chair, and floor as appropriate.
• Demonstrate proper body mechanics and safe patient-handling techniques.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response and current evidence.
• Provide patient, family, caregiver, and healthcare-provider education.
• Apply therapeutic taping for stabilization, facilitation, or inhibition of movement.
• Perform appropriate therapeutic modalities, including ultrasound, interferential, and iontophoresis.
• Communicate patient progress and treatment recommendations with referring providers.
• Monitor and provide feedback to support personnel as applicable.
• Complete accurate clinical documentation and daily charging in the therapy EMR.
• Follow applicable clinical, legal, ethical, and organizational standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy
• Active Illinois Physical Therapist License (IDFPR)
• BLS – American Heart Association
• Experience with patient transfers, patient examination, and patient screening
• Knowledge of physical therapy diagnoses and treatment planning
• Experience with orthopedic and neurologic conditions
• Proficiency with ROM, strength, and functional testing
• Experience with clinical documentation and therapy EMR
