Title: Surgical Technologist I – Operating Room
Location: Bakersfield, CA 93306
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday; 

On-call weeknights and weekends in a 6-week rotation, including holidays.
 

Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program
• BLS certification
• Surgical Technician certification
• Aseptic/sterile technique
• Robotics experience
• Vascular knowledge
• Validated competencies across designated surgical subspecialties
• Surgical trauma experience preferred/required as listed in the requisition. 

Description:

• Perform preoperative duties including patient identification, surgical-site verification, positioning, surgical prep, equipment/supply preparation, sterile gowning and gloving, and instrument, sponge, and sharps counts.
• Maintain the sterile field throughout procedures; assist with draping, pass instruments and medications, handle retractors, suction the operative site, and support robotic/endoscopic procedures.
• Perform additional surgical counts, prepare sterile dressings, handle specimens according to protocol, and ensure instruments are properly cleaned and returned for processing.
• Participate in Time-Out/Universal Protocol, debriefing, quality-improvement activities, patient monitoring, turnover cleaning, accurate documentation, and patient transport to PACU.
• Provide care support across newborn, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient populations while following applicable safety and departmental procedures.
