Position Overview

Nebraska Medicine is seeking an experienced and adaptable Radiologic Technologist (X-Ray Tech) to support Diagnostic Radiology, Emergency Department, inpatient imaging, and Operating Room services within a Level I Trauma environment.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, strong trauma imaging skills, and hands-on experience with portable X-ray, C-Arm procedures, and OR imaging. Candidates should be confident working independently, adaptable to changing priorities, and comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a high-acuity hospital environment.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of clinical radiology experience
• Level I Trauma experience required
• OR experience required
• Strong trauma imaging experience
• Proficient in:
  • Diagnostic X-ray
  • Trauma imaging
  • Portable X-ray
  • C-Arm procedures
• Fluoroscopy experience is preferred; exposure may be limited depending on department needs.
• Strong ability to work independently with minimal support.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Nebraska Radiologic Technology License – Required

Primary Responsibilities

The Radiologic Technologist will provide imaging services across multiple clinical settings, including the Emergency Department, inpatient floors, Diagnostic Radiology, and Operating Room.

Diagnostic & Fluoroscopy Imaging

• Perform diagnostic X-rays for inpatient and Emergency Department patients.
• Perform fluoroscopy and related diagnostic imaging procedures.
• Provide timely, accurate imaging while maintaining patient safety and radiation-protection standards.
• Work effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals during procedures.

Portable X-Ray

• Perform portable X-ray examinations for patients on inpatient floors.
• Manage a designated portion of the hospital's portable imaging workload.
• Safely transport and position portable imaging equipment.
• Maintain quality imaging standards while working in patient rooms and other non-radiology environments.

C-Arm / Operating Room

• Perform C-Arm procedures in the Operating Room.
• Provide intraoperative imaging support to surgeons and OR teams.
• Demonstrate proficiency with C-Arm equipment and sterile-environment requirements.
• OR experience is required.

Emergency Department Responsibilities

The technologist will support the Emergency Department as part of the department's imaging coverage.

• Average ED volume is approximately 20–25 patients per shift.
• Provide timely diagnostic imaging for emergency and trauma patients.
• Work efficiently in a high-acuity environment where priorities may change rapidly.
• ED coverage may involve working with limited ancillary support.
• Strong trauma imaging skills and independent decision-making are essential.

Equipment & Technology

The department utilizes a broad range of radiology equipment and technology, including:

• Diagnostic Radiography Rooms
• Portable X-Ray Equipment
• C-Arms
• R/F (Radiography/Fluoroscopy) Systems
• Radiology IT Systems
• McKesson PACS
• Centricity RIS
• EPIC EMR

Candidates should be comfortable learning and working with computerized radiology and electronic medical record systems.

Departmental Flexibility / Floating

The position requires flexibility across multiple imaging environments.

The technologist may work between:

• Emergency Department
• Diagnostic Radiology
• Inpatient/Floor Imaging
• Operating Room

Candidates must be comfortable supporting both Emergency Department and Diagnostic Department needs as required.

Orientation & Training

Orientation begins with NEO (New Employee Orientation) followed by department-specific, on-the-job training.

Training may include:

• Departmental workflows
• Equipment-specific training
• Imaging protocols
• OR procedures
• Portable imaging processes
• Hospital systems and documentation requirements

The successful candidate should be a self-starter who can quickly learn new processes and adapt to changing clinical situations.

Dress Code

• Standard department attire: Red scrubs
• Hospital-provided scrubs will be provided when working in the Operating Room.

Nebraska Medicine Assignment Requirements

Orientation

• 12 hours of orientation are non-billable.
• Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation.

Call-Off Policy

• The client may call off the equivalent of 36 hours per 13-week assignment.

Local Radius

• Nebraska Medicine does not accept local candidates.
• A 100-mile radius restriction applies.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist with strong Level I Trauma and OR experience who can confidently perform diagnostic, portable, trauma, and C-Arm imaging. The candidate should be a self-starter, an effective team player, and comfortable adapting to changing priorities across the ED, inpatient, Diagnostic Radiology, and OR environments.
