Required Certifications / Licensure

• BLS (AHA): Listed, but facility states BLS is not required for lab techs despite potential patient contact
• MLT/MLS Certification: ASCP or AMT required
• WV License: Required – MLT or MLS license
• Generalist: Required
• CA: CLS license applies if working in California

Education & Management Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field
• ASCP or AMT certification as Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist
• 5 years laboratory experience
• 3 years supervisory/management experience for the Lab Director role
• Preferred: Master's degree in Clinical Laboratory Management or related field
• CAP requirements for Technical Supervisor:
  • Master's + 2 years high-complexity testing experience in the respective specialty, OR
  • Bachelor's + 4 years high-complexity testing experience in the respective specialty

Must-Have Skills

• Medical Laboratory Generalist experience
• Experience with high-throughput laboratory/LIS systems
• Experience in a larger laboratory setting preferred
• Coverage across:
  • Hematology
  • Coagulation
  • Chemistry
  • Urinalysis
  • Microbiology
  • Serology
  • Blood Bank
  • Specimen processing
• Phlebotomy experience is a plus, as techs may assist with morning rounds and overflow

LIS / EMR

• EPIC EMR/LIS

Shift Options

• Clinical Lab: 12-hour and 8-hour shifts
• Microbiology: 10-hour and 8-hour shifts
• Multiple scheduling options available

Core Responsibilities

• Direct, plan, and coordinate laboratory services
• Establish and maintain specimen preparation and testing procedures
• Develop and implement analytical procedures
• Monitor laboratory equipment performance and quality standards
• Manage laboratory operations, staffing, workload, and productivity
• Maintain quality control and quality assurance programs
• Participate in proficiency testing and CAP compliance
• Manage laboratory budget and operational expenses
• Oversee LIS needs, system improvements, security, and staff training
• Implement new tests, programs, instrumentation, and procedures
• Ensure compliance with hospital and accrediting-agency standards
