Travel RN – Adult Oncology/PCU, 12-hour night shift, 6:30 PM–7:00 AM, every other weekend, 48 guaranteed hours per week, 126-week contract. This is an 18-bed Adult Oncology PCU/Trauma PCU unit within a Trauma Level I acute-care facility. The unit cares for adult oncology PCU and trauma PCU patients. Nurses should be comfortable with PCU-level care, chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, Protonix, insulin, and occasional titration of insulin and Cardizem drips. High-flow oxygen is commonly used. Typical ratios are 1:4–1:5 on both days and nights. Travelers may float to other Med/Surg and PCU units while remaining at the same level of care. Epic is the EMR, with Alaris IV pumps and lift equipment available. The unit provides support from Nursing Assistants, Charge Nurses, PT/OT, RN Case Managers, Social Workers, Educators, and Dietitians. First-time travelers are accepted. Self-scheduling is available based on unit needs. Two days of unit orientation are provided. Candidates will complete a clinical interview and manager interview. During orientation, RNs must pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90%. Hourly rounding and bedside shift report are important unit practices. The hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.
