Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) – FSED

Shift & Schedule

• Shift: Night Shift
• Hours: 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
• Guaranteed: 36 hours/week
• Weekends: As needed or every other weekend, based on preference
• On-Call: None

Staffing

Day Shift:

• 1 CNC
• 3 RNs

Mid Shift:

• 2 RNs

Night Shift:

• 1 CNC
• 3 RNs

Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 RN : 4 patients

Required Qualifications & Certifications

Candidates must have all of the following:

• Active Texas RN License
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• TNCC
• NIHSS
• CPI

Candidates missing any of the required skills/certifications may not be considered.

Preferred Certifications

The following are preferred and may receive consideration first:

• ENPC
• NRP

Clinical Experience / Skills

The RN should be experienced and comfortable with emergency/freestanding emergency department care.

Typical procedures include:

• IV starts
• Blood draws
• Moderate sedation
• Splinting
• Emergency patient assessment and care

Equipment

The unit utilizes:

• Splinting equipment
• Defibrillator
• Hamilton ventilator
• Welch Allyn equipment
• Bedside cardiac monitoring

EMR

• Currently using Meditech Magic
• Transitioning to Meditech Expanse
• Transition date noted: 8/13

Patient Care Expectations

• Patient-centered care is a key focus
• Strong teamwork is important
• Candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Must be able to manage approximately 1:4 patient ratios

Floating

If needed, the RN may float to:

Fairmont FSED

Candidate should be comfortable working at another FSED location based on staffing needs.

Unit Guidelines

• Joint Commission regulatory guidelines apply
• No food or drinks at the nurse's station

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced ER/FSED RN who has strong emergency-care skills, holds all required certifications, and is comfortable with a 3 PM–3 AM schedule, 36 hours/week, weekend coverage, and potential floating to Fairmont FSED.
