Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Assignment

• Position: Registered Nurse (RN)

• Contract: 91 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours/week
• Reason for Opening: Contractor replacement

Schedule

• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts per week
• Weekend: Every other weekend required
• Holidays: Rotating with hospital employees
• Travelers are scheduled according to facility policy.

Patient Ratio

• Approximately 1 RN : 6 patients

Required Experience

• Minimum 30 months of RN/LPN nursing experience
• At least one previous successful travel nursing assignment
• Strong Telemetry experience
• Experience caring for patients following cardiac procedures, including:
  • PCI
  • PPM
  • ICD
  • Cardiac ablations
• Proficient in reading and interpreting telemetry strips
• Strong time-management and care-planning skills
• Ability to collaborate with physicians and ancillary departments
• Experience with discharge planning and patient education

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Required Clinical Skills

The RN must be comfortable with:

• Telemetry monitoring
• Post-cardiac procedure patients
• Post-Cath Lab patients
• Cardiac drip management, including:
  • Cardizem
  • Amiodarone (Amio)
  • Nitroglycerin (Nitro)
  • Dobutamine
• Phlebotomy
• Breathing treatments outside the ICU
  • Inhalers
  • Nebulizers
• Foley catheter care and maintenance
• Nurse-driven Foley removal protocols
• Developing and updating plans of care each shift
• Patient education and discharge planning

Floating Requirements

Travelers are the first to float.

Depending on facility needs, the traveler may be floated to:

• Emergency Department to care for inpatient holds
• Telemetry monitoring room
• PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Candidate should be comfortable floating to these areas according to their skills and facility policy.

Documentation & Equipment

EMR: Meditech

Unit equipment includes:

• i-Mobile phones for care team members
• Mobile computer workstations on wheels
• Mobilab laboratory drawers
• Alaris IV pumps

Hospital Information

Trident Medical Center is a 313-bed HCA Healthcare facility in the Charleston, South Carolina area. The facility includes a 24-hour emergency department and a Level II Trauma Center.

Specialized services include:

• Joseph M. Still Burn Clinic
• Trident Breast Care Center
• South Carolina Institute for Robotic Surgery

The facility also has specialized cardiac and stroke services.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced Telemetry/PCU RN with strong cardiac-care experience, previous travel nursing experience, and the ability to manage a 1:6 telemetry assignment. The candidate should be comfortable caring for post-cardiac procedure patients, interpreting telemetry, managing cardiac drips, and floating when required.
