Description
Laboratory Supervisor / Lead Medical Technologist
Shift: Evenings – Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
Contract: 13 weeks
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must meet NYSDOH 10 NYCRR 58-1.4 requirements for Laboratory Supervisor
- Must qualify through one of the following pathways:
- Bachelor’s degree + NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist qualification + 4 years pertinent laboratory experience
- Master’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological science + CLT qualification + 2 years pertinent experience
- Doctoral degree/licensed physician + CLT qualification + 1 year pertinent experience
- Current, valid New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or acceptable equivalent credential
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- Blood Bank/Transfusion Service
- Chemistry
- Hematology
- Microbiology
- Able to independently perform antibody workups, crossmatching, transfusion reaction management, and massive transfusion procedures
- Experience working as the sole technical authority during off-shift/weekend hours in an acute-care hospital laboratory
- Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, AABB, and NYCRR Part 58 requirements
- Epic Beaker LIS experience preferred
- WellSky Blood Bank experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- MT/MLS ASCP or equivalent certification
- Previous Laboratory Supervisor or Lead Technologist experience
- SBB (ASCP) or blood bank specialist certification
- Level I/II trauma or high-volume transfusion experience
- Experience with NYSDOH, Joint Commission, CAP, or AABB inspections
