Requirements

• At least 2 years of ED experience
• Experience at a Level III trauma center or higher
• Recent Epic experience required, with no exceptions
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and CPI/MOAB
• Prior travel experience preferred
• Must pass a telemetry competency exam before starting

Schedule and patient care

• Shifts: Day/mid starts at 7 a.m. or 11 a.m.; mid/night starts at 3 p.m. or 7 p.m. Shifts may change from week to week.
• Ratios: Typically 1:4 on days; may flex to 1:5 based on acuity and staffing
• Patients: Pediatrics through geriatrics, including trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, DKA, respiratory illness, and behavioral health
• Weekends: Vary based on unit needs
• Holidays: Two of five major holidays
• On-call: None
• Floating: None

Other details

• Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV, ED medication and drip, procedural sedation, and blood administration skills are needed. TNK experience is preferred.
• Telemetry is monitored centrally and at the bedside; there is no telemetry tech.
• Ask about interest in a 48-hour contract.
• Schedules cover three weeks and are typically released about 10 days before they begin. Time off requires nurse manager approval.
