• Strong focus on fetal monitoring, labor management, delivery, C-sections, and postpartum care

🏥 Clinical Responsibilities

The L&D RN will provide comprehensive care throughout the labor and delivery process, including:

• Antepartum and high-risk antepartum care
• Labor and Delivery management
• Vaginal delivery assistance
• C-section recovery and C-section circulating
• Assistance with high-risk deliveries
• Forceps and vacuum-assisted deliveries
• Maternal hemorrhage/shock management
• Postpartum and cesarean patient care
• Care for multiple births and postpartum hemorrhage
• Triage of obstetrical patients
• Fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart-rate patterns
• Internal and external fetal monitoring
• IUPC placement/calibration and fetal scalp electrode placement
• Sterile vaginal examinations
• NST and OCT testing
• Magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, Terbutaline, insulin drips, antihypertensive and antiseizure medication management
• Epidural/general anesthesia and pain management
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood administration, and IV medication/drip monitoring
• Central line maintenance and IV initiation/maintenance
• Newborn care, APGAR assessment, identification/security banding, and thermoregulation
• Breastfeeding/lactation support
• Foley catheter, fundus, lochia, perineal, and wound care

🧑‍⚕️ Required Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license
• Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience
• Previous Charge RN experience – Required
• Travel nursing experience – Required
• 1:2 patient ratio experience
• ACLS
• BLS
• NRP
• AWHONN Intermediate
• STABLE certification – Required
• AWHONN fetal monitoring experience
• Strong fetal monitoring and obstetric emergency management skills

📋 Preferred/Additional Experience

Experience with the following is highly valuable:

• High-risk antepartum care
• Amnioinfusion
• Cervical cerclage
• D&C and tubal ligation
• Multiple births
• Postpartum hemorrhage
• Pregnancy-induced hypertension
• IUPC and internal fetal monitoring
• CVC/PICC maintenance
• Breastfeeding/lactation support
• Dysrhythmia interpretation
