RN | Medical Oncology
 

Position: Registered Nurse – Medical Oncology
Location: Des Moines, IA
Contract: 13 weeks, with possibility of extension
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Schedule: EOH / EOW (Every Other Holiday / Every Other Weekend)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients receiving treatment for cancer and other oncology-related conditions.
• Assess, monitor, and document patients’ conditions, symptoms, and responses to treatment.
• Administer medications, chemotherapy, and other treatments according to provider orders and facility protocols.
• Monitor patients for treatment-related side effects and complications and promptly report changes in condition.
• Manage IV therapy, central lines, and other oncology-related treatments as appropriate.
• Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, symptom management, and follow-up care.
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Follow infection-control, medication-safety, and patient-safety standards.

Requirements

• Active RN license eligible to practice in Iowa.
• Previous Medical Oncology/Oncology nursing experience required or strongly preferred.
• Strong assessment, medication administration, and clinical documentation skills.
• Experience caring for patients receiving chemotherapy and other cancer treatments preferred.
• Strong communication and patient education skills.
• Must be available for 7:00 AM–7:30 PM shifts.
• Must work every other weekend and every other holiday.
• 13-week commitment required; extension may be available.
