Job Summary

Altru Devils Lake Clinic is seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide patient-centered evaluation and treatment services. The Occupational Therapist will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to develop patient goals, coordinate care plans, identify barriers to discharge, and support patients and families throughout the treatment process.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and select appropriate occupational therapy treatment methods based on age, diagnosis, symptoms, physician orders, and clinical needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and document evaluations, interventions, progress, and outcomes according to applicable standards.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment procedures, assistive devices, home exercise programs, and other health and wellness needs.
• Coordinate treatment schedules with other healthcare disciplines using appropriate scheduling procedures.
• Monitor treatment effectiveness and patient outcomes and participate in the development of new programs and services.
• Perform pain assessments and take appropriate action according to established procedures.
• Obtain and document pertinent patient information, including precautions, physician orders, and the initial plan of care.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and accurately document discharge plans.
• Recognize significant changes in patient condition and communicate concerns through appropriate reporting, staffing consultations, and documentation.
• Provide clinical supervision and guidance to Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs) in accordance with state licensure and care-delivery standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the department and organization.

Qualifications

• Occupational Therapist (OT) license – North Dakota State Board of Occupational Therapy, required prior to start.
• OTR/L certification – National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), required prior to start.
• Current driver's license with an acceptable driving record, required prior to start.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA), required prior to start.
• Experience: 2+ years preferred.
• New graduates: Will be considered if they have inpatient and/or outpatient clinical experience.
• Clinical setting: Inpatient and/or outpatient experience required.
• EMR: EPIC experience preferred.
