Responsibilities – Nuclear Medicine Technologist

• Perform diagnostic nuclear medicine examinations using radioactive tracers and radiopharmaceuticals.
• Prepare, calculate, administer, and properly document radiopharmaceutical doses according to physician orders and safety protocols.
• Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment, including gamma cameras and related imaging systems.
• Verify patient identity, orders, medical history, and required preparation before procedures.
• Explain procedures to patients and provide appropriate pre- and post-procedure instructions.
• Position patients correctly and obtain high-quality diagnostic images according to established protocols.
• Monitor patients during and after procedures and report any adverse reactions or changes in condition.
• Perform equipment quality-control procedures and troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
• Process and review images for technical quality before sending them for interpretation.
• Maintain accurate patient and procedure documentation in Cerner.
• Follow radiation safety procedures, including ALARA principles, for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Safely handle, store, and dispose of radioactive materials according to regulatory and facility requirements.
• Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and hospital policies.
• Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide appropriate patient care.
