Job Summary

Seeking an experienced IMC/Stepdown/PCU Registered Nurse to care for adult patients in a fast-paced intermediate care unit. The unit is the hospital’s dedicated IMC unit and cares for patients with a wide range of diagnoses, including complex cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and post-operative conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to adult patients in an IMC/Stepdown/PCU setting.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, and respond to emergencies.
• Care for patients requiring cardiac and vasoactive drips, including titration when indicated.
• Manage central lines, PICC lines, arterial lines, ports, IV therapy, and blood product administration.
• Provide care for ventilated patients, tracheostomies, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow oxygen.
• Care for patients following cardiac procedures, including cardiac catheterization, angiograms, open-heart surgery, and sheath removal.
• Manage patients with neurological, renal, orthopedic, and other complex medical conditions.
• Float to other units as needed, within competency and scope of practice.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
• Prior experience in Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU, DOU, or IMC/Stepdown required.
• BLS and NIHSS required.
• ACLS preferred.
• Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience required.
• Required experience includes dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, rapid response, cardiac procedures, central line and arterial line management, cardiac/vasoactive drips, respiratory support, tracheostomy and ventilator care, and complex medical-surgical patient care.
• Travel experience required per the detailed qualifications; the job overview states first-time travelers are not accepted.
• Cerner experience preferred.
• Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred.
• Pending licenses are not accepted.
