Job Summary

The PCU Float Pool RN provides care to adult and geriatric patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and treatment. This is a float pool position with no assigned home unit. The nurse will float among approximately five Med-Surg, Intermediate Care, and PCU units, with possible assignments at other metro campuses.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in Med-Surg, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, and neuro stepdown settings.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize and manage dysrhythmias.
• Perform NIH Stroke Scale assessments and care for patients with stroke and other neurological conditions.
• Care for patients with sepsis, renal failure, atrial fibrillation, gastrointestinal bleeding, wounds, and other acute conditions.
• Provide pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care.
• Float between departments, units, and facilities according to staffing needs.
• Participate in holiday shifts and charge nurse assignments as needed.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of nursing experience required
• BLS and NIHSS required
• Missouri or compact RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
• Experience in MS/Tele, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, or neuro stepdown
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• On-unit telemetry monitoring
• Pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care
• ACLS preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
