Shift: Nights | 3x12s | 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
Contract: 13 weeks

Patient Ratio: 1:1–2
Patient Population: Adults
Unit: Cardiac Medical ICU
First-Time Travelers: Not specifically required; travel experience preferred
Locals: Accepted at same rate

Must-Haves

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience
• EPIC experience REQUIRED
• BLS, ACLS & NIHSS – AHA certifications only
• Strong ICU skills and critical-care experience
• IV start competency
• Telemetry experience
• Ventilator management experience
• Valid Compact or Ohio RN license in hand at submission

ICU Skills

Experience with:

• Arterial lines
• Central lines / PICC lines
• Ventilator management
• BiPAP/CPAP
• CRRT/CVVHD
• Continuous sedation
• Vasoactive & cardiac drips
• Dysrhythmia management
• Blood products
• ABGs
• HFNC
• IV insulin protocols
• 12-lead EKG
• Emergency medications
• ETT/NT suctioning
• Pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring
• Procedural sedation
• Phlebotomy

Preferred/advanced: IABP, Impella, pre/post cardiac cath/intervention.

Unit Details

• Beds: 30
• Daily Census: 28
• Ratio: Approximately 1:1–2
• Weekend: Every other weekend
• Float: Required to other units within the OSU organization as needed
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Support: RT, PT, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response, social services, transportation, interpretation services, unit secretary

Cardiac Medical ICU patients including:

• ACS
• Acute MI
• Cardiogenic shock
• Post-interventional cardiac procedures
• Decompensated heart failure
• TAVR patients
• GI bleed
• Acute/chronic renal failure
• Airway disease exacerbation
• Diabetes
• Pneumonia
• Rule-out embolus

Equipment / Special Procedures

• IABP
• Impella
• CRRT
• Ventilators
• EKOS
• Hemodynamic monitoring
• Activated Clotting Time monitoring
• Hypothermia protocol

Vaccination

• COVID: Not required
• Flu: Required; medical exemptions only

Best candidate profile: ICU RN with 2+ years of ICU experience, strong Epic, ventilator/telemetry experience, and exposure to advanced cardiac ICU equipment such as IABP, Impella, CRRT, and hemodynamic monitoring.
