Respiratory Therapist – Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care to acute-care patients during day shifts.
• Assess patients' respiratory status and develop/implement appropriate respiratory care interventions.
• Perform respiratory treatments and therapies according to physician orders and facility protocols.
• Monitor patients' oxygenation, ventilation, and response to respiratory treatments.
• Administer oxygen therapy and manage respiratory support equipment.
• Assist with airway management and maintain appropriate respiratory equipment.
• Perform respiratory assessments and document patient responses and interventions.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding patients' respiratory needs.
• Recognize changes in respiratory status and communicate concerns promptly.
• Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and respiratory-care protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the facility's computerized charting system.
• Ensure respiratory equipment is properly maintained and available for patient care.
