Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR RN)

Shift Matrix: Day Shift | Variable Hours (5x8-Hour Shifts)
- Schedule Quality: 40 hours per week (5x8-Hour Day Shifts with variable start times).
On-Call Requirement: Call coverage required including nights, weekends, and holiday rotations.
Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours Per Week
🚫 Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:
- Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered Massachusetts State RN License held in hand at submission.
- Experience Baseline: Minimum 2+ years of recent Operating Room circulating experience in an acute care setting.
- Mandatory Certifications:
- Active AHA BLS
- Active Flu Vaccination required prior to start date
- Strict Logistics & Housing Hardstops:
- Zero RTO Policy: No Requested Time Off (RTO) permitted during the 13-week assignment.
- Personal Vehicle Mandate: A personal vehicle is strictly required for island transportation and call coverage response.
- Shared Housing Rules: Shared housing is provided by the facility. Strictly no pets and no guests permitted under any circumstances.
Job Summary & Clinical Scope
A Hospital in Oak Bluffs, MA is seeking an experienced, autonomous Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) for a 13-week contract in Surgical Services (MV6210 / SO00005193). Operating within a critical access community hospital on Martha's Vineyard, the OR RN will manage intraoperative care, patient advocacy, and surgical scrub/circulating duties across general and specialized emergency/elective surgical procedures.
- Intraoperative Circulating & Scrub Duties: Coordinate intraoperative care, maintain sterile field integrity, perform accurate surgical counts, and manage patient positioning for diverse surgical cases.
- On-Call Emergency Surgical Response: Provide dedicated night, weekend, and holiday call coverage for emergency surgical interventions and acute trauma stabilization on the island.
- Surgical Suite & Equipment Management: Prepare surgical suites, verify instrument sterilization, direct equipment setup, and document perioperative care in accordance with facility protocols.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work directly with attending surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical techs to deliver safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care.
