Shift Matrix: Day Shift | 4x10-Hour Shifts (Monday – Friday)
- Work Schedule: 40 guaranteed hours per week (4x10-Hour Shifts, Monday through Friday).
- On-Call Matrix Requirements:
- Weekday On-Call: Mon – Fri rotation from 17:30 to 07:00.
Weekend On-Call: All-day weekend call rotation (starts Friday 17:30 and ends Monday 07:00).
Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours Per Week
🚫 Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:
- Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered Connecticut State RN License held in hand at submission.
- Experience Baseline: Minimum 1+ year of dedicated GI / Endoscopy Nursing experience in an acute care or high-volume outpatient endoscopy setting.
- Procedural Expertise Mandate: Direct procedural knowledge and experience with ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) and EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound) procedures is strictly required.
- EHR Proficiency: Mandatory Epic EMR experience.
- Mandatory Certifications:
- Active AHA BLS
- Active AHA ACLS
- Preferred Experience: Prior Level 1 Trauma Center background and prior travel nursing experience strongly preferred.
- On-Call Commitment: Candidate must agree to meet strict weekday and 61.5-hour weekend call rotation requirements.
Job Summary & Clinical Scope
A Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT is seeking an experienced Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (RN GI) for an 8-week contract in GI Endoscopy (Cost Center 10700.438010). Operating within a high-acuity medical center, the RN will direct pre-procedure assessment, intra-procedural sedation monitoring, procedural circulating, and post-anesthesia recovery (PACU/Phase I & II) for adult diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic interventions.
- Advanced Endoscopic Procedure Support: Circulate and assist physicians during complex advanced endoscopic procedures, including ERCP, EUS, Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), Colonoscopy, PEG tube placements, and mucosal resections.
- Moderate Sedation & Airway Management: Administer and titrate physician-ordered intravenous conscious sedation; continuously monitor patient airway, hemodynamics, capnography, and cardiac rhythms during high-risk interventions.
- Pre- & Post-Procedure Recovery: Perform rapid pre-procedural nursing assessments and direct post-sedation phase I/II recovery, discharge teaching, and post-procedure complication monitoring.
- Endoscopic Equipment Handling: Operate, handle, and ensure the safe reprocessing/disinfection setup of advanced gastrointestinal endoscopes, fluoroscopy equipment, electrosurgical units, and specialized biopsy accessories.
