Description

Med Surg/Tele RN – Job Details 
OVERTIME PAY: 3X RATE — OVERTIME HOURS WILL BE PAID AT THREE TIMES THE REGULAR HOURLY RATE.

 

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours/week
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Holidays as required; Holiday RTO is not allowed
  • Orientation: Biweekly orientation; 16 hours of non-billable orientation
  • Certifications: AHA or ARC BLS
  • License: Alabama or Compact RN License required; no temporary licenses accepted
  • Experience: 2 years required; candidates with 18 months may be considered if:
    • Working under the highest level of professional license
    • At least 1 year of experience in the specialty
  • Education: ASN degree required
  • Patient Ratio: Typically 1:6
  • Charting System: Meditech
  • Floating: Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals
  • Local Candidates: Accepted; no rate difference
  • Dysrhythmia Requirement:
    • Must pass a Dysrhythmia Basic Exam
    • 2 attempts allowed during onboarding
    • First day includes a Validation Cardiac Dysrhythmia Exam (pass/fail)
    • Failure results in being sent home and contract cancellation
    • Candidate cannot be reconsidered for 6 months
    • Study guide provided with FDI materials
  • RTO Policy: Maximum 7 days of non-consecutive RTO during the 13-week contract
  • Holiday RTO: Not permitted; travelers must follow the holiday schedule like permanent staff
  • Overtime: OT applies after 48 hours, regardless of whether the traveler works a 36- or 48-hour schedule
  • Facility Cancellation: Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per contract without penalty; cancellations are expected to be rare
